Privacy policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026
LANScan24 is a static website. It has no accounts, no comment system, no newsletter, no analytics and no advertising. This policy describes the small amount of processing that does happen, and it is short because there is very little of it.
We set one strictly necessary cookie to remember your cookie choice. We run no analytics and no advertising, and we do not build profiles or sell data. Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver the page, as any web server must. If you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner, your browser also requests a font stylesheet from Google. That is the complete list.
1. Who is responsible
This policy covers the website published at lanscan24.life ("LANScan24", "the Site", "we"). The Site is operated as an independent editorial project about network scanning software.
For any privacy question, correction or request, write to privacy@lanscan24.life. We answer every message that needs an answer.
2. What we do not do
- No analytics of any kind — no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, no server-side page-view counting on our part.
- No advertising networks, no retargeting pixels, no conversion tags.
- No user accounts, logins, profiles or personalisation.
- No contact forms, comment sections or file uploads.
- No newsletter and no mailing list.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal data with anyone, for any purpose.
- No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting or session recording.
- No embedded videos, social widgets, chat bubbles or third-party scripts.
3. Cookies
The Site sets exactly one cookie:
| Name | Purpose | Type | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
ls_consent |
Stores your answer to the cookie banner (accepted or
essential) so the banner does not reappear on every page. |
Strictly necessary, first-party | 12 months |
It contains one word. It carries no identifier, no session token and nothing that can be
linked back to you. It is set with SameSite=Lax and is never read by any third
party. Until you answer the banner, no cookie is set at all.
Full detail, including what each choice changes, is in the cookie policy. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
4. Server logs and hosting
The Site is served as static files from Cloudflare's global network (Cloudflare, Inc., acting as our hosting provider and processor). Like every web server, the infrastructure necessarily processes your IP address, the URL requested, the time, your user agent and the referrer in order to deliver the page and to protect the service against abuse and denial-of-service attacks.
We do not operate our own analytics on top of that data and we do not attempt to identify visitors from it. Cloudflare processes it under its own retention and security practices as our processor; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) — operating and securing a website.
5. Google Fonts
If, and only if, you press Accept on the cookie banner, your browser
requests a stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com and font files from
fonts.gstatic.com. Making that request discloses your IP address and user agent
to Google, and is governed by
Google's privacy policy.
If you press Essential only, or dismiss nothing and simply keep reading, that request is never made and the Site renders with fonts already installed on your device. Nothing is lost except two typefaces. This is the only third-party request the Site is capable of making.
Legal basis: consent, Article 6(1)(a) — freely given, withdrawable at any time from the footer.
6. Links to other websites
The guides link to vendor websites — angryip.org, lizardsystems.com, solarwinds.com — and to documentation elsewhere. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, and we have no visibility of or control over what they collect. We never mirror or wrap third-party downloads.
7. Children
The Site is technical documentation aimed at IT professionals and enthusiasts. It is not directed at children and we knowingly collect no data from anyone, of any age.
8. Your rights
Under the UK/EU GDPR and comparable laws you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
In practice we hold no personal data about you: there are no accounts, no mailing list and no analytics database, and the one cookie we set lives only in your own browser — clearing your site data deletes it completely. If you have emailed us, that correspondence is the only record that could exist, and we will delete it on request. Write to privacy@lanscan24.life.
9. Data transfers and retention
Because the Site is delivered from a global content network, the request that serves you this page may be handled by a data centre outside your country. No personal data is stored by us; we operate no database of visitors, so there is nothing for us to retain, export or erase.
10. Changes to this policy
If the Site ever changes in a way that affects privacy — a new third-party request, for example — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change. Because the Site has no mailing list, we cannot notify you directly; the date is the honest signal. A change that introduces new non-essential processing would also reset the cookie banner so you are asked again.
