About LANScan24
LANScan24 is an independent reference for local network scanning, device discovery and network mapping software. No vendor pays for placement here.
What this site is
Three tools, covered properly, is more useful than thirty covered in a paragraph each. We pick the programs that between them cover the real jobs on a LAN and write the guide we wanted when we first had to do that job: what each control does, what each column means, and what to check when the result is obviously wrong.
- Angry IP Scanner — free, cross-platform, the general answer.
- LizardSystems Network Scanner — Windows shares, printers and access rights.
- SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset — SNMP, switch ports and topology.
How the guides are written
- Features are described as the vendor documents them. Capability tables come from official documentation and product screenshots, not from memory or from other review sites.
- Screenshots are the vendor's own. Every image on this site is an official product screenshot published by the developer of the software it shows, used to identify and illustrate the program under discussion. Sources are listed below.
- Downloads point at the vendor. We never mirror installers, never wrap them, and never link to a download portal. If a link here does not end up on the developer's own domain, that is a bug — tell us.
- No invented benchmarks. Where we cannot reproduce a figure, we do not publish it. Scan times quoted are orders of magnitude, clearly described as such.
- Prices and limits are deliberately vague. Free-edition device limits and licence tiers change without notice; the vendor's site is the authority and is always linked.
Independence
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Angry IP Scanner project, LizardSystems or SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Product names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear here nominatively — to name the software being discussed.
Ranking on this site reflects how many readers a tool suits, not commercial arrangements.
Where a link to a vendor carries tracking parameters, it is marked
rel="nofollow".
